Native NH Tree I.D. Hikes
With
Tom Foster, B.S.,M.S., Forestry from University of Massachusetts
Tom's love of trees and shrubs began with his relationship with his grandfather, a woodsman who traveled to different woodlots to harvest trees and cut them into lumber. After learning to identify common trees with his grandfather, Tom earned a BS and MS in Forestry at UMass. He has taught woody shrub and tree identification at University of Massachusettes and Greenfield Community College. He continues to volunteer in retirement and finds joy in meeting new people and getting them excited about the forest.
Tom, with help from a fantastic group of friends developed a unique and specific species list. This group hiked/walked throughout the winter of
'20-'21. They were together for over 35 identification hikes around the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The group known as the (Tree Tribe) continues to walk around and expand this list as they identify other species and review the ones they know.
"Tom's Love of trees and shrubs and his enthusiasm to share his knowledge is contagious. The walks feed my brain and my soul"
Tree Tribe Member.
All Hikes are at Moore Farm. $10.00 per person Please call ahead to sign up for each hike.
Please bring a water bottle, wear comfortable walking shoes, camera, pen & paper. These are gentle hikes & walking with some hilly terrain.

Vision
